been listening to bach and stravinsky and trying to stay warm. if only music could comfort icy fingers and cold hearts instead of making them colder. if only there was more daylight and less starless nights.

ps. i was very sad to find that a starling wasn't a starred creature at all but a rather sad looking bird.

pps. above is a picture of my great grandmother. she always reminded me of how Wendy might have looked.

what a gorgeous, nostalgic photo. And I think starlings are magic ;)

That photo is magic. I love old photos, and it's even more special if it's someone you know. :) x

You are quite right, starlings do look rather troubled. I read your post while listening to Comptine d'un autre été: L'après-midi, which always makes me sad. Beautiful and heartbraking. The photograph is so beautiful. x

Oh, your great grandmother looks like she must have been a terribly enchanting person!

I wish music could help icy fingers as well. I have been struggling to play the piano since my frozen fingers don't want to move that way they need to.
(Oddly, one of my favourite songs to play is "Comptine d'un autre été" as mentioned in the comment above!)

I think the melancholy of starlings makes them ever so dreamy and tragic. Your great-grandmother reverberates Wendy, you are so lucky. ;)

Thank you doves for your lovely words! I do hope you all had splendid holidays! And,

Thea: that is a beautiful tune, though very sad. I suppose it's bittersweet.

Melee: I hope your icy fingers thaw soon so that you might play the ivory keys once again. Stay warm.

Bach and Stravinsky are both exceptional, though you may like Scriabin (especially Etude Op 8 No 12 - which I play every midnight). Starless nights seem empty, don't they? As if something is missing in more than one place.

I shall listen to that, thank you for the suggestion. Yes, that is how it feels, night skies without stars are so incomplete.
